Capstone Project: Week 16

This week more playtesting went ahead within class and this was valuable as it allowed me to see if my fixes had worked as well as finding more bugs and things to fix. From it I was happy to see players now had an easier time driving with the added break and drift feature.


The main fixes I took away from it was adding:

  • track arrows for blind corners and tricky areas

  • disabling the pause menu during cutscenes due to softlocking the game

  • potentially changing the level order as level 2 is too hard

  • changing the radio buttons as it is also the navigation buttons

  • making level 1 slightly brighter


So far my fixes had included:

  • adding track arrows by creating a bright arrow sprite and placing them within the world:

  • I disabled the pause menu by binding it to the custcene timeline animation on an activation track, meaning it only will turn on after the cutscene plays.

  • And remapped the radio to left and right bumper (L1, R1).


I have also been continuously adding more to level 4, including more foliage, a waterfall, and buildings to further flesh out the level. I want to add a custom skybox that features other planets on the horizon, cementing that this isn't earth, but extraterrestrial paradise.
