This week I got less progress than normal done due to other subjects being quite content heavy. However I still managed to work a bit on the UI as well as adding more detail to my first level.
For the UI I decided to finally edit the the fonts and colours to match that of the Main Menu and in game HUD. For now I have gone with a simple, futuristic font and chosen to keep it clean with the 3 colours of black, white, and red. I think this definitely helps with improving the overall look and meshing of all the HUD elements.
I then also added more buildings to the first level. After playing more Cyberpunk 2077, I realised my map doesn't feel as overbearing and enclosed as it should in some areas and so I went back and added in more buildings to really make the track feel as if it's in the heart of the city.
I then also added stands with a simple 2D crowd bobbing animation. I then lined the start finish line with these to really bring more energy to the world. I think next week I will go back and change the crowd however as it being all black doesn't really pop.
Overall not lots of big changes however I do think it made needed changes that make a big difference to the feeling of driving the circuit, and as this is the first level, impressions matter.
Here is a lap around the new circuit:
*The lap counter is not bugged, just in Debug mode for testing.
